Some of the most common questions that we get around here after a bride finds "the dress" are "could you please take a picture of all of us?" and "what about jewelry?" While the answer to the first question is always a yes, the second answer is a bit more complicated.
Whether it's earrings, a necklace, a fun head piece, or even a belt, accessories are a very personal statement. There are so many fun combinations of bling, colored beads, or lace that it can easily make your head spin. Here are some of our no fail favorites to help you pick some accessories for your big day.
While I do love bling of all sorts, it may be helpful to pick an earring style based off of the neckline of your dress. A strapless dress may look best with a long, or intricate earring style, while a high neck or full sleeve may be best suited by a gorgeous diamond stud or small pearl. Another thing to take into account when choosing accessories is the style of your dress- here we chose to give a simple lace dress by Essence of Australia lots of sparkle with these Mariell earrings, and this glam Maggie Sottero dress a smaller earring to play up the beading in the dress. These are just a few examples of styles that we carry, but we would love to see you in our store to shop accessories! We carry several different designers like Erika Koesler, Maritza, and Mariell just to name a few.
This is one of my favorite necklaces in the store because of the rose gold coloring. This piece would be fabulous with a variety of dress styles. For a strapless dress it may be fun to do a necklace with lots of beading and sparkle, but for a dress like the one pictured above with a sleeve, or higher neckline, you could either go without, and have fun earrings, or do a simple diamond necklace like this rose gold one.
We love this simple diamond bracelet. Something small on the wrist will always compliment your ring, but we do also have stunning larger bracelets as well.
I am absolutely loving this 1-minute up do right now! I did this on Michaella by just selecting one of my favorite headbands we have here in the store, slipping it on her head and then wrapping and twisting her hair around the band. It was so simple and I love the messy look- but you can also wrap the hair symmetrically and make it look more sleek if you prefer. This headband is perfect with the small pearl accent and it has a stretchy band in the back which made this hair do a breeze. We just slid in a few bobby pins and she was all set!
Here is another one of our favorite head pieces. We love how a headband can add just enough sparkle to any hair style!
A belt can completely change the look of a dress! Here are a few of our favorites.
One of our favorite trends right now is a colored belt. This beaded asymmetrical belt is by Essence of Australia and we love the blossom color. It may also be fun to do a sash like the one pictured below to match the color scheme of your wedding.
While we don't carry shoes to purchase in our store, we do get to see some fun kicks when our brides come in for their alterations appointments! While Carrie Bradshaw wasn't one of our brides here at Dora Grace, we feel especially attached to her Manolo Blahnik shoes for her "something blue." There are so many great (and less expensive) options out there- we always recommend just surfing the web! Some of our favorite sites to check out are Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Dillard's or HauteLook.
Signing off with love and lots of accessories,
