Fall Trend Report

Off the Shoulder

We love seeing these bare shouldered gowns that show off the sleekness of the collarbone as a strapless dress would yet with some functionality of a sleeve. Dora Grace spotlights this in the Afton by Maggie Sottero.

Featured Straps

Unique backs have been hitting the bridal scene for a few seasons with lace illusion and button detals, however the strappy back we've been seeing in lingerie is about to make its way to the bridal world and open up the backs of many wedding dress styles. We love seeing this on style 6519 by Stella York.

Lattice Lines

"Modern Mesh" as some like to call it, this lattice design is ALL OVER our new gowns in both subtle and overt ways.  Mixed with lace you can see this come to life in style D2363 by Essense of Australia.

For the bride who doesn't want the typical crystal beading but still wants that bridal "glam", the metallic trend will suit her taste.  The Nina by Wtoo is dripping with luxe style with dramatic sparkle, shimmering with every step.

Side Cut-Outs

The sexy side cutouts you've been seeing on the runway has made its way to bridal! We love how the cutouts are covered with lace detail on Style 6500 by Stella York giving you the best of both worlds with coverage but a seductive silhouette

Wondering if any of these new trends are for you?  Make an appointment today and see for yourself.  New dresses are arriving weekly!

Guide to Holiday Formal Wear 2016

The month of December is always such a magical time of year, and with holiday cheer in full effect you may find yourself on the hunt for a formal gown to wear to this years gala's, charity balls and holiday parties. But not to worry! Here is a short guide to help you shine at all of your events this season.

This silver-grey formal gown by Dave & Johnny is a definite show stopper. The halter neckline with a peek-a-boo detail is a trend that is sure to be seen everywhere this upcoming year. Not to mention, the stunning beading on the bodice will be sure to draw some stares. This Betsey Johnson shoe would be the perfect match to this gown!

A gown with a ruched bodice is a great way to draw in detail if you are not wanting to go the beaded route. This specific gown has intricate ruched detail that would be extremely flattering on a range of body types. The evergreen color is perfect for all of your holiday needs! If you do choose a gown with a simpler pattern, or overall silhouette, a fun manicure can add some festive spirit to your ensemble!

This stunning Madison James gown would be the perfect ensemble if you've got some fabulous plans New Years Eve!

A fully beaded gown pairs perfectly with neutral footwear like this Sam Edelman Shoe!

We love the way this gown looks paired with rose gold tear drop earrings. The perfect way to play up both the gold and the silver detailing!

La Femme has done it again! We love the rich garnet color in this dress. This would be the perfect dress to wear to a variety of events- charity ball, holiday party, or even New Year's bash!

The best part of this dress is the beautiful detailing on the shoulders and neckline. Pair this unique neckline with an up-do like the one shown below. Not only will an up-do enhance the silhouette of the gown, but it will also ensure that you are able to dance the night away with ease!

Another big trend that we are seeing are different types of cutouts. We love this dress in particular because it is actually fully lined with nude fabric, which will give you a lot more flexibility with undergarments than a traditional dress with cutouts would. Pair your evening wear with a matching clutch like the Glint Beaded Minaudière and you are sure to make a statement at your holiday parties!

We look forward to helping you find your perfect formal gown for the holiday season!

Northern Colorado Venue Tour- Estes Park Part 2

Back in August, we got the opportunity to take a  day-trip up to the gorgeous town of Estes Park, Colorado. Our goal was to tour as many venues as possible in order to have a better feeling for each one, thus being able to relate better to our brides when they told us where they were getting married.

We decided on six beautiful venues: Lion's Crest Manor (Lyons, CO), Fox Acres (Redfeather, CO), Black Canyon Inn, Taharaa Mountain Lodge,  The Stanley Hotel, and Della Terra Mountain Chateau. We wanted to tour a variety of mountain venues and get the feel for each one! We were not disappointed with our field trip- each and every venue we visited unveiled yet another amazing view of the Colorado mountains. This blog post will highlight Taharaa Mountain Lodge, the Stanley Hotel, and Della Terra Mountain Chateau. If you missed part one of this blog, you can read it by clicking here

Our day led us deeper into Estes Park, and to these stunning views from Taharaa Mountain Lodge. The photo above shows the view from the main entrance of the mountain lodge.

This is the ceremony site at Taharaa Mountain Lodge. The site provides ample seating for your guests, and a beautiful arbor than can be left as is, or you can choose to have your florist decorate it with greenery and flowers for added detail. Next up, the reception site!

The reception area offers a large indoor space, along with a connected patio area with an absolutely breathtaking mountain view! This venue is ideal for parties with out of town guests, as the whole lodge can be reserved for your wedding. One thing to keep in mind if you are considering booking Taharaa Mountain Lodge is that kids are able to attend the wedding, but are not able to spend the night in the lodge itself. Overall, our visit to Taharaa Mountain Lodge was incredible- the pictures do not do this view justice!

Next up on our agenda, we headed back into the heart of Estes and visited the famous Stanley Hotel (and for the record, we did not see a single ghost on our tour).

The Stanley Hotel is an absolutely stunning venue! The Stanley offers several different ceremony and reception sites depending on how many guests will be in attendance.

This is one of the possible ceremony sites at the Stanley, which offers yet another jaw-dropping mountain view.

The photo above shows the Concert Hall, which is a potential wedding site at the Stanley. In this photo, you can see the chairs are set up for a ceremony, but the space can also be set up with chairs and tables as a reception space as well. You can find more photos of the different ceremony and reception sites on the Stanley Hotel's website

Next up on our venue tour- Della Terra Mountain Chateau!

The photo above shows the back of Della Terra, and just a hint of the stunning view that the mountain chateau provides! Just behind the stunning wall of windows lies the large reception space, or if the Colorado weather is acting up, it can also double as an indoor ceremony site. The pathway that you can see in the photo leads down to the main ceremony site.

This lovely gazebo is found just beyond the main ceremony site and conceals the bride and her escort until it is time to walk down the aisle!

Here is an inside view of the reception space or potential ceremony site.

Last up for Della Terra, we thought that this idea was so cool! This fun space will keep the guys preoccupied while the gals get ready upstairs in the salon! The movie theatre comes complete with a huge selection of movies. The atmosphere of Della Terra will make your day truly feel like a fairy tale!

We want to say a huge warm thank you to all of these gorgeous mountain venues for allowing us to explore! We would highly recommend touring any of these venues- and as always, if you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to reach out to us.

Northern Colorado Venue Tour Part 1-Estes Park

Back in August, we got the opportunity to take a  day-trip up to the gorgeous town of Estes Park, Colorado. Our goal was to tour as many venues as possible in order to have a better feeling for each one, thus being able to relate better to our brides when they told us where they were getting married.

We decided on six beautiful venues: Lion's Crest Manor (Lyons, CO), Fox Acres (Redfeather, CO), Black Canyon Inn, Taharra Mountain Lodge,  The Stanley Hotel, and Della Terra Mountain Chateau. We wanted to tour a variety of mountain venues and get the feel for each one! We were not disappointed with our field trip- each and every venue we visited unveiled yet another amazing view of the Colorado mountains. This blog post will highlight Lion's Crest, Black Canyon, and Fox acres, but stay tuned for our next post about the remaining venues that we were able to tour!

We began our day at Lion's Crest Manor and let me tell you, it set the bar pretty darn high! The manor used to be the family's home but was then converted to a venue for weddings and special events.

The reception area, complete with an amazing staircase for the newlywed's grand entrance, can also be used to hold indoor ceremonies in cases of bad weather. There is a separate space to hold the cocktail hour upstairs.

For outdoor ceremonies, the wedding party enters via this stone path and goes to....

Jaw dropping, we know. The second we stepped onto the main ceremony site we fell in love! Not only do you have a stunning mountain view, but also lush trees and greenery at the manor as well.

After our amazing tour of Lion's Crest Manor, we headed up to Black Canyon Inn in Estes.

Black Canyon Inn is the perfect venue for a smaller wedding, but they are able to accommodate larger weddings as well. When entering the venue, it almost feels like it's own little mountain town with separate cabins all around. Many of the cabins serve as vacation rentals, but there is also a block of cabins that act as more of a hotel for the bridal party and a select number of guests.

The ceremony site gives a stunning mountain view and is covered! Perfect for unpredictable Colorado weather. There is also an indoor space, if necessary. After the ceremony, head to Twin Owls Steakhouse, which serves as an onsite reception area.

This sweet pond serves as the perfect view from some of the cabins. Black Canyon inn has even had some couples get married on the island in the middle!

To wrap up this blog, we wanted to show you one more beautiful mountain venue that we were able to tour.  Fox Acres is a Golf Club tucked away in Red Feather Lakes.

This is another perfect spot for the couple that is looking for a small mountain getaway! The photo above shows one of Fox Acres' options for a stunning ceremony spot. You can choose to be married here, or...

Here! We love that there are multiple ceremony sites to fit different styles of weddings. This is more of a traditional wedding site on the golf course itself, with a beautiful peek at the mountains in the distance.

After the ceremony you can head to this unique space for photos, cocktail hour, or even your reception if you choose. There is also a banquet hall available if you are looking for a more traditional reception space.

We want to thank Lion's Crest, Black Canyon, and Fox Acres SO much for allowing us to tour their beautiful mountain venues. Remember to stay tuned for our next blog post where we will showcase Taharra Mountain Lodge, The Stanley Hotel, and Della Terra Mountain Chateau!

Stress-Free Wedding Planning

Stress-Free Wedding Planning. Is it even possible?! My answer is: YES! You can absolutely have a wedding and not go gray over the entire process. My wonderful husband proposed to me on December 5, 2015 and we were married on April 2, 2016. For all of you wondering… yes, it was a wedding planned in only 4 months AND out of state!

While the thought of this makes most brides break out in hives and screams stress, the idea of a super short engagement got us SO excited. Here we are, 3 months post wedding and wouldn’t have changed a thing! The goal of the blog this week is to encourage brides to enjoy every second of wedding planning and be able to look back at the planning process with joy, rather than remembering how stressful it was.

First thing’s first, pick a date and venue. While Jon and I were blessed enough to have our wedding ceremony and reception in my Uncle’s backyard, I am fully aware of the fact that not all venue decisions are made that easily. When planning a stress-free wedding, be sure to be somewhat flexible with your date if possible. Some of the more popular venues book up extremely quickly, meaning that the date you have in mind and the dates that are actually available may be two different things. If you are also planning to have a short engagement, you will need to be even more flexible with dates.  Don’t let this aspect of planning stress you out! Your wedding day will be something you will remember forever no matter what date you choose.

Secondly, try to be relaxed about your details. I had a very specific idea in mind of how I wanted the wedding to look (decorations, set up, etc), but I was also willing to bend a little bit depending on how well each piece would fit the budget. Remember, at the end of the day, your guests will not remember every teeny, tiny detail. Odds are, you will be the only one who notice if things aren’t exactly how you had planned them. For example, our rental company did an absolutely INCREDIBLE job, however, they forgot our cloth napkins. We ended up having nice paper napkins instead which was not the look or color I wanted, but I had NO idea on our wedding day, and nobody complained! People had napkins - end of story.

Third is the dreaded topic of money. Budgets can and will be slightly stressful. Are your parents helping pay for the wedding? Are his? Will you and your fiancé be funding the entire thing? These are big questions that may be uncomfortable, but are extremely necessary to tackle early on. Be open and honest with everyone involved in the financial side of the wedding and again… be willing to be flexible. If you can’t afford to order flowers from a florist, look into ordering them wholesale and putting your own centerpieces together. There are so many ways to be budget conscious! There is no reason you can’t have your dream wedding on a very reasonable budget. Pintrest will be your best friend when looking for adorable, money saving ideas!

Finally, wedding planning itself will inevitably have some stressful aspects associated with it. Unfortunately, it is just the nature of the beast. You have to decide going into the process that you are going to enjoy it and soak up every moment. Don’t let little things get in the way of the joy you share with your husband on your wedding day.

Remember, this is supposed to be the most wonderful, special, exciting day of your lives. Have fun with planning and don’t stress!

Much love and happy planning!

Dora Grace Weddings: Jordan and Josiah

Jordan and Josiah tied the knot in sunny Arizona this May at the Blackstone Country Club. It was so fun to see Jordan's whole process come together- picking her dream dress, bringing the girls in for theirs, and of course we couldn't forget tuxes for these handsome gentlemen too! Jade was the perfect shade to choose for their South West wedding, and the stunning backdrop is giving us serious destination wedding envy. Pinkerton Photography captured these amazing photos of this gorgeous couple's big day.

Jordan wore a Mori Lee, lace fit and flare dress- so stunning! It is all in the details for this gown with the deep v neck line and open back with illusion lace straps.

We always recommend that the groom does something different with his tux to stand out. In this case, Josiah opted for the Heather Grey Aspen tux with an ivory tie and ivory vest. His groomsmen went a shade darker with a Steel Grey tux, and tie to match the girls dresses.

We also helped Jordan's girls find the perfect bridesmaids dress by Dessy. The jade color ties in perfectly with their South West theme!

How sweet is Clara's matching flower girl dress by Bill Levkoff??

The groomsmen looked sharp in their Jim's Formal Wear tuxes!

The flowers were done by Thee Wedding and Event Warehouse.

We are beyond happy for this gorgeous couple! Congratulations to Jordan and Josiah- we wish you a lifetime of love and happiness.

Northern Colorado Venue Tour: Brookside Gardens

As part of our Northern Colorado vendors and venues tour, our staff got to visit Brookside Gardens last week. This stunning venue (and full time spa!) is located in Berthoud, CO.

The grand entrance and circle drive of Brookside Gardens.

The makeup room.

This is the makeup room, just outside of the salon area. Brookside also serves as a full time spa and salon!

They just added more pedicure chairs into this spa space.

How fun is this space? Perfect for some pre-wedding pedis with the girls!

This is one of the spaces that you can hold your reception in, or an indoor ceremony space.

The best part about this space is that before Brookside Gardens became an event center, this was the family's indoor pool! They converted it to this reception area when their daughter got engaged and they couldn't find just the right space for her wedding.

This is the grand entrance stairway.

This grand entrance stairway leads to the bridal suite upstairs. There is also a separate room for the groom and his guys to hang out, pre-festivities.

The view of the grand entrance stairway from the door of the bridal suite.

Brookside offers several options as a backdrop during your ceremony such as this red barn, which we loved!

This cozy cottage is an on-site honeymoon suite! It also has two separate rooms. One for the bride and groom, and another if a small guest party wants to stay on-site too.

Thank you so much to Katie, who gave us the grand tour of Brookside. You can contact her at (970) 532-3663 with any questions about the venue, or any needs for your special day. This is a spot not to be missed if you are beginning your wedding planning!

Northern Colorado Vendors: Pink Diamond Events

As part of our Northern Colorado Vendors and Venue tour, I recently had the opportunity to sit down with Casey Muller, owner and lead event planner at Pink Diamond Events.

Photo courtesy of Danielle DeFiore Photography

Pink Diamond Events offers several different packages in order to suit each individual bride's needs, as well as different budgets. The "Pink Diamond Package" is a full-service planning and design program, the "Blue Diamond Package" is a partial planning program and the "White Diamond Package" is a day-of, or month-of, program."A piece of advice for the bride looking for a planner is to realize that you don't need a big budget to hire a planner. That with our different packages, there is a package that works with all budgets."The staff at Pink Diamond events has a lot of experience working with many different types of brides in order to make many wedding wishes come true. You can check out their amazing portfolio here

One of Casey's favorite parts of event planning is connecting her brides to different vendors that fit their vision and personality. Because Pink Diamond Events has been in the business of event planning for over seven years, they have the experience and the vendor networks, to find the perfect fit for each bride. Casey said that one of her favorite parts about event planning is getting to see everything come together, and after seeing their amazing work, so will you!

Pink Diamond Events has been recognized for their work on several different platforms, earning a spot in the Knot Hall of Fame, the Best of the Knot for four years, and the Best of Wedding Wire five years in a row. They have reviews and praise from their brides that can be viewed on their website and many other websites as well.

If you are curious about what kind of role Pink Diamond Events would play in the planning process, the team aides couples in further developing the vision for their big day, including helping to come up with ideas that fit their style, going to meetings with vendors and looking over contracts, and so much more! Casey says that, "because of our experience we have proven practices that ensure the wedding will be flawless. In addition, we have planned weddings in many different kinds of venues which allows us to be successful regardless of the type of wedding the bride is having or where they are having it."

I asked Casey what advice she would give to couples who are considering hiring an event planner and the biggest thing to keep in mind would be to find someone who already has experience under their belt and has the network and contacts to make your vision a reality. Another piece of advice? Trust your planner- they always have your best interest at heart.

With love,

Northern Colorado Venue Tour: Tapestry House

The Tapestry House is a beautiful little gem tucked away in Laporte, CO- just north of Fort Collins. Being one of the most popular venues in Northern Colorado, it's no wonder we had to make it a stop on our tour of vendors and venues! This spot draws in hundreds of people every year with its Victorian charm.

This is the gorgeous front entrance of the Tapestry House.         Photo from tapestryhouse.com/

The Tapestry House is known for its Victorian style and beautiful, tranquil grounds.

This is the outdoor ceremony space.

The Tapestry House is surrounded by beautiful gardens. This photo gives you a sneak peak into what the lush grounds have to offer. Amazing photos await you here!

This reception area also doubles as an indoor ceremony space in case of inclement weather, or for winter weddings.     Photo from The Knot

This is another space outside of the Tapestry House that can be used for an indoor/outdoor reception. Perfect for a warm summer evening.   Photo from The Tapestry House

There are so many gorgeous spaces at the Tapestry house to hold your ceremony and reception for you to choose from.

This is the bridal suite where you can get ready with your gals before the wedding. It also serves as the honeymoon suite for the couple on the night of the wedding.

We love the vintage aura that the Tapestry House gives. This bridal suite and honeymoon suite is so sweet and, not to mention, convenient!

This on-site kitchen is fully furnished!

If you choose to stay at the tapestry house, you have access to this beautiful kitchen as well! Just another perk of choosing to call this venue home for your wedding weekend.

Everyone who is married here has an opportunity to have a brick dedicated to them, including their names and wedding date.

The outdoor space surrounding the Tapestry House is covered in these sweet bricks. This are such a special memories to have!
